Snowy winters, wildflower summers

Yesterday I went on an excursion to la Vall de Núria, a Pyrenean valley within the village of Queralbs (Girona, Catalonia). Right there lies the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Núria, that now is a hotel/ski resort. There are few ski slopes, not too crowded, at least yesterday they weren’t. It’s only accessible via a rack railway (from Ribes de Freser) or by foot, there are no roads to access there. The tickets for the rack railway are a bit expensive, but it’s worth it. If you want to get there by foot, it’s a distance of 12.5 km over an incline of more than 1,000 metres.
There are plenty of activities to do like skiing, sledding, snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, horse riding… As we didn’t ski, we spent the day hiking in the mountains. It’s a good thing to do even though you have to be carefull where you tread because the snow is mostly frozen and you can slip.

Hope you like it! 🙂

Espero que us agradi! 🙂
